Message from the Director of the Center

With the basic objective of “acquiring complete education and nurturing the spirit of human respect,” we highly value the possession of teachers having specialist knowledge and skills in our University, and also place high value on the center for liberal arts. The Common Education Center is a central organization responsible for the design of university-wide education, which includes liberal arts. University-wide education courses are divided into foundation courses and liberal arts courses; foundation courses include foundation in English and information processing. Liberal arts courses are called “discussion-based approach courses” and are divided into four areas: 1) human research, 2) social research, 3) natural research, and 4) modern research. These courses are taught by teachers specialized in each field, and they offer very unique contents. Along with English, we also offer courses in other languages such as German, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Korean; all these courses are also led by full-time faculty members. University-wide education courses offer students from different departments with an opportunity to interact with each other.
